SAVE DANCE HUB SA

Dance Hub SA was recently advised that we have been unsuccessful in our application for multi-year funding from Arts SA.   Further, our annual funding has not been re-instated.

Unless the Government reverses this decision Dance Hub SA will close, eliminating our vital support for the independent dance sector. At risk is not only the mentoring, choreographic and funding support that we have been able to provide, but the vital access to studio time in the Lion Arts Centre.

We believe fundamentally that the wrap around services we have provided (traditionally on a shoe-string budget) have supported the creative incubation of work that is vital for a thriving dance sector.

We are asking our supporters to write to both the Minister for the Arts as well as your own local Labor member to demonstrate that withdrawing support for Dance Hub SA is striking a blow at the heart of the independent dance sector in South Australia.

We have written two template letters to which you can add if you wish, a very short personal statement about your connection with Dance Hub SA. We are asking our supporters to send these letters by no later than Friday 25 November to show a critical mass of support.

You may also like to forward a copy to us for reference.

We appreciate your assistance and hope that the Government demonstrates it’s understanding of the importance of this vital sector to the State’s arts eco-system by reversing its funding decision.

Dance Hub SA acknowledges the Kaurna people as the custodians of the Adelaide region and that their cultural and heritage beliefs are still as important to the living Kaurna people today.

We also pay respects to the cultural authority of Aboriginal people visiting/attending from other areas of South Australia/Australia.
