“The Young Artist Program is a springboard into connecting with community, individuals and my voice as a dance-maker.” – Liat , Young Artist 2019
Participation is a 2-week program (Dec 7-20 2020) of practice-led composition, performance tasks, sharing, and having independent studio sessions to each develop a short choreographic investigation. In 2020 celebrated South Australian choreographer, Alison Currie, will be the mentor. At the end of the 2 weeks there will be a showing in our studio located in the Lion Arts Centre.
The ultimate aim of YAP is to give emerging choreographers the tools and skills to take into their evolving works and practice as well as into their future dance collaborations, networks and teaching.
Their choreography can be further developed through career pathways offered by Dance Hub SA such as our flagship Artist In Residence program and/or opportunities to create and present through festivals such as SALA, The Adelaide Fringe, International Dance Day.
“Dance Hub SA’s inaugural Young Artist Program has helped me learn to let go of traditional structure and embrace the flow of creativity during choreographic exploration. Its teachings underpin any dancer’s choreographic inventory to help them succeed at their craft.” Daniel, Young Artist 2019
